Our practice philosophy

At MACSEYE, our practice philosophy is rooted in a deep understanding of each child’s needs—intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and physical.  

We believe that every child is created with unique dignity and potential, and we are committed to providing an environment where they feel seen, heard, and valued. 

Guided by our Catholic values of love, compassion, and justice, we foster a sense of belonging and community, encouraging children to grow in confidence, resilience, and empathy.  

Meaningful Relationships

We build safe, inclusive and nurturing relationships with children and between children, fostering a sense of belonging and community.

Learning Through Play and Leisure

Research shows that play is a key part of how children grow and learn. We connect with children in a respectful and thoughtful way, paying attention to what interests them and helping them learn and grow through play.

Uplifting Children’s Voices

We champion the rights of children, seeing them as capable and important contributors to their own lives. They have the freedom to share their ideas, make decisions, and help shape our programs and spaces.

Nurturing Spirituality

We nurture children’s sense of wonder, creating safe spaces as they explore their sense of self and place in the world. Through art, mindfulness and nature, children discover positive values and how they contribute to the greater good.

Consciously Unhurried

We deliberately slow down, taking time to listen, and allowing space for exploration and discovery. This gives children the opportunity to deeply engage with their learning, each other and their world.

Caring for Our Earth

We are committed to caring for the Earth, respecting its diversity, beauty, and the way it sustains all life. Our programs aim to inspire a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the natural world and our connection to it.

Curious

We reflect on our own beliefs and backgrounds. Understanding learning is lifelong, we remain curious, approaching each situation with openness, so we can fully support and engage with children and each other.

Curriculum Framework

We embed the nationally approved learning frameworks for Australia and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework in programs and practice. We promote holistic development, play-based learning, and partnerships with families to prepare children for future educational success.
